Natwest to close Pontypridd branch

Pontypridd and Taff Ely MP, Alex Davies-Jones has told GTFM that she is “deeply frustrated” by Natwest’s decision to close it’s branch in Pontypridd town centre next year.
Natwest bank have announced that the Pontypridd branch will close its doors for the last time on Thursday 29th February 2024.
Natwest have confirmed with customers affected that their nearest branch services will be Natwest Caerphilly.
This news comes after the closure of a Barclays branch in the town in August, and after a spate of other closures over the last 18 months.
The Member of Parliament for Pontypridd, Alex Davies-Jones MP said:
“Once again banks are abandoning customers and the high streets without a thought for vulnerable people and businesses who rely on access to cash.
Pontypridd has a vibrant, bustling high street but I have real concerns that the loss of yet another bank in our area is going to have a huge impact.
Banks must not just shut shop without a care for those who rely on cash to get by in their daily lives. For people living in the Valleys it is laughable that those banking with Natwest will now have to travel to Caerphilly for in-person services.
I urge Natwest to reconsider this decision and will be making personal representations to them on behalf of everyone living in Pontypridd and Taff Ely who has been impacted.”
