Catch Gareth on Community Link Wednesday mornings from 10am playing the music of your life and talking to people from across RCT and South Wales.

Gareth Williams began his broadcasting career in 1984 at Aberdare Hospital Radio. After a brief spell at Cardiff based CBC in 1984, which was later rebranded as Red Dragon Radio in 1985, Gareth returned in 1990, to enjoy six years on Red Dragon FM sport reporting on both club, mainly Pontypridd, and international rugby matches which saw him commentate on several Wales games at Cardiff Arms Park, and away fixtures at Twickenham, Murrayfield and Lansdowne Road in Dublin.

Gareth left Red Dragon FM in September 1996 to embark on a ten year broadcasting career at Valleys Radio, which was based in Ebbw Vale, and served the South Wales Valleys. After leaving in early 2006, Gareth enjoyed a number of Sports reporting freelance roles contributing to national sports radio shows on TalkSPORT and BBC 5LIVE and also becoming a regular football reporter on BBC 1’s ‘Final Score’ show in 2007.

In September 2011, After an eighteen month spell presenting the sport shows on Bridge FM and Swansea Bay Radio, Gareth turned his hand to travel reporting on a number of national, regional and local radio stations inc TalkSPORT, BBC Radio Wales, Real Radio, Swansea Sound and The Wave. A job he enjoyed until 2017. In October 2014, Gareth joined GTFM as a volunteer presenter and has since presented a regular weekly show.

During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Gareth was able to present the ‘Community Link’ show on most weekdays over a four month period from March 24th through till July 24th.

The show’s aim during this very uncertain time was to entertain the listeners whilst at the same time inform them of the best advice available through numerous interviews with local MP’s and Members of the Senydd alongside people from support and charity groups.

The weekday Welsh Government Coronavirus briefings from Cardiff were also broadcast LIVE throughout the lockdown. Gareth continues to present ‘Community Link’ on Wednesdays.
