When the call went out from local GPs for extra Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Mick Antoniw, Assembly Member for Pontypridd, was able to enlist the help of local technology company Purolite.
Mick Antoniw said:
“The Welsh Government is distributing millions of items of PPE, but the scale of the coronavirus pandemic is putting the supply system under severe pressure.
“So, when Dr Darren Lloyd, Practice Manager at the GP surgery in Tonyrefail contacted me about securing additional supplies of PPE I was pleased to bring their request to the attention of Managers at Purolite, who are a world-leading technology company based on the Llantrisant Business Park.
“Purolite responded immediately and very generously, donating over 6000 pieces of PPE, including gloves and face masks. I was pleased to deliver these personally to the Tonyrefail surgery and this equipment has now been distributed to other GP practices through the local GP hub.”
Niki Edwards, UK Sales’ Office Manager, Purolite said:
“When our local Assembly Member approached us for help, we were delighted to be able to make this contribution to the local GP Surgeries’ hub, who are in the front line of helping to keep us all safe.
“Purolite is a family business that was established in Llantrisant 1984. We work with some of the world’s most regulated industries, so the health and safety of our customers and our personnel is of paramount importance, so it’s been pleasure to help our local community to stay safe in these challenging times.”
