GTFM Launches on DAB+

Over the past few years GTFM has been expanding its distribution on FM throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf making its local radio service more easily available across more towns and villages across the county by increasing the power on our 107.9FM frequency which serves Pontypridd, Llantrisant, Porth, Tonypandy and surrounding areas.

In 2021 we launched 2 extra FM transmitters in the Cynon Valley on 107.1FM in Aberdare and on 100.7FM in Mountain Ash which help cover the Cynon Valley from Abercynon through to Rhigos.

Before the autumn we will be adding an extra transmitter on 95.7FM to strengthen our signal in the Tonyrefail and surrounding areas of the A4119 corridor.

We are now pleased to tell you that GTFM is now available on DAB+ Digital Radio in the Cardiff and Caerphilly areas.

We have decided to accept the invitation to be included on the newly launched multiplex for the benefit of local people from Rhondda Cynon Taf to help them keep listening to GTFM as they travel in their thousands every day for work, study and leisure, plus it’s also a platform to showcase all what’s good in Rhondda Cynon Taf to new listeners who may stumble across us in those areas.

This will also help us make the station more financially secure as we can appeal to more advertisers and sponsors, making GTFM available to over 730,000 people.

We have plans to bring GTFM to DAB+ in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area in 2024 subject to the granting of an Ofcom license and funding.
