A big congratulations is in order to seven-year-old Kian Waithaka from Tonypandy who’s school teacher set his class a task of completing 100 things in memory of Sir Captain Tom Moore, who raised millions for NHS charities.

Kian set himself the task of doing 100 hill runs over ten days.

No matter the weather, rain, sunshine, and snow, Kian was out there every day competing his hill sprints.

Speaking to the Rhondda Leader, Kian’s mam Catherine said people started asking if he was fundraising, so they set up a JustGiving page for NHS charities and have since raised more than £1,300.

Catherine said: “Last year we were so impressed by Captain Tom walking the laps around his garden in lockdown and as a family we followed his story and watched everything.

“I am so proud of him, he showed real character and determination.”
