Ysgol Garth Olwg Celebrates 2021 A Level Results

Pupils at Ysgol Garth Olwg in Church Village are celebrating A-level results with some individuals achieving outstanding success after an extremely challenging year for both Learners and Staff.
The 2021 results followed similar pattern to previous years with the attainment profile very similar to that of the 2017 cohort.
Among the school’s high achievers this year are:-
Huw Griffiths: 4A*. Gruff Roberts: 4A*.
Brianne Jones: 3A*, 1A. Steffan West: 3A*, 1A.
Darcy Morgan: 2A*, 2A. Anwen Davies: 1A*, 3A.
Ewan Edwards: 1A*, 3A. Efan Fairclough: 1A*, 3A.
Iwan Smith: 1A*, 3A. Nia Osborne: 4A.
Kate Phillips: 4A.
Pupils will be heading to many different universities including Cambridge, Cardiff, Manchester and Bristol to study a range of subjects. Other universities chosen by our pupils this year include Aberystwyth, Swansea, Bangor, South Wales and Plymouth.
Headteacher of Ysgol Garth Olwg, Trystan Edwards, said: “Many congratulations to the pupils who have overcome the many challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. They fully deserve their results, and we are very proud of their success and the way they have persevered and worked so hard in unprecedented times for education in Wales and beyond. I also take the opportunity to congratulate and thank their parents, carers and families, as well as our dedicated staff for their tremendous support and commitment to ensure the success of our pupils. We look forward to following our pupils’ paths through university, employment or further education, and into their future careers”.
Julie Barton, Chair of the Governing Body, said: “On behalf of the Governors, I would like to congratulate our pupils on their A Level and Vocational Level 3 results at the end of an unprecedented academic year. We are very proud of what they have achieved and wish them well for the future. Thank you also to the staff for their hard and tireless work in supporting our young people in what has been a challenging time for us all”.
