WALK THAT WAGGY WALK 2021

Written by on 9th February 2021

Despite all the challenges faced last year, Hope Rescue helped 589 dogs to find their forever home in 2020. This year they are bringing back their Waggy Walk – virtual style! Help Hope Rescue to cele-brate this incredible achievement by joining together to walk 5890 miles throughout March.

Last year was a tough one for us all. The impact of the pandemic was dramatic for this local rescue centre in Llanharan. Since 2005, Hope Rescue has been saving the lives of stray, abandoned and un-wanted dogs from across South Wales and last year was their hardest yet. Their rescue centre was closed to the public and to their volunteers; their charity shop in Pontypridd flooded during Storm Dennis as a result closed and in need of a full refurbishment, all fundraising events were cancelled, and the boarding kennels closed. This had an enormous impact on income, in fact they lost around £1000 every single day.

In March 2021, Team Hope want to celebrate the fact that they have worked through this pandemic together and come out the other side stronger! And what better way to do this than to bring back their Waggy Walk, virtual style! You and your pooch can rack up the miles and money by putting a spring in your step on your very own Virtual Waggy Walk. The challenge is to walk 5890 miles collec-tively in March to represent every dog in Hope’s care last year, could you and your family help them get there?

Abbie Barton, Community and Events Fundraiser for Hope Rescue says “We are so happy to bring back our Waggy Walk 2021 in a virtual capacity. Fundraising events have been hit hard over the past year and many have had to be cancelled. It is great to be able to organise a virtual event, where anyone anywhere can take part. Virtual fundraising has become our future and online platforms such as Give Penny have really helped to elevate this. We can’t wait to see the pictures of all of our Waggy Walkers throughout March.” To take part in Hope Rescue’s Waggy Walk 2021, please visit www.hoperescue.org.uk/Event/virtual-waggy-walk and create your virtual platform today with Give Penny.
