Virtual Veterans Coffee Mornings

Written by on 9th March 2021

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Armed Forces Service is launching a FREE new Virtual Veterans Group for the Pontypridd area in March, and it is open to members of the Armed Forces community, both past and present.

The third group of its kind in Rhondda Cynon Taf, it will be the perfect opportunity for members of our Armed Forces community to get together from the safety of their own homes to meet online with old friends and make new ones.

Council Deputy Leader and Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Maureen Webber, said: “Due to the global pandemic, it has been a very difficult 12 months for everyone, none more so than our Armed Forces community to whom we owe so much.

“We will never forget all that they have done for us and I am pleased that we are able to increase our offer of support to them.

“These Virtual Coffee Mornings will be a great way for everyone to meet up in a safe, virtual manner, and relax and share their stories and experiences with others.

“Many of our Veterans community often feel helpless and isolated and don’t know where to turn for help when they leave active service. This Council is extremely proud of its strong ties with our Armed Forces, past and present, and hope this new Virtual Coffee Morning will prove to be a huge success.

“It is important that we never forget the courage and bravery of all our Armed Forces personnel, past and present, at home and overseas, which is why the Council continues to expand its advice and support services to help with their transition into everyday life.”

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council was one of the first local authorities in Wales to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2012, a commitment that was reaffirmed in 2018.
