Toy Story 5 ‘in the works’ as Disney plans big sequels

It looks like we’ll be getting more from the Toy Story and Frozen movie franchises, as Disney is reportedly aiming to bring both back for further sequels. And there’s set to be another Zootopia film coming as well.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has spoken during an earnings call about how new films from some of the company’s biggest animated movie franchises are “in the works“.
As reported by Sky, the Disney boss hinted that there would be new films from Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
He said:
“We will have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we are leaning into our unrivalled brands and franchises.”
The new Toy Story film will be the fifth instalment in the series. The fourth film landed in 2019, and seemed to bring the story to a conclusion. But, then again, the same could be said for the tear-jerking end to Toy Story 3.
Frozen currently has two films. In 2014, the first movie became the highest box office film gross for an animation. In 2019, Anna and Elsa were back for a second outing. The animated musical films have spawned iconic songs such as Into the Unknown and, of course, Let It Go.
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning Zootopia from 2016 was a popular bunny cop film. The difference being that the cops were a rabbit called Judy Hopps, and a fox called Nick Wilde.
