Taff Vale Link

The proposal to re-open a rail connection between the Llantrisant area and Cardiff has taken another step forward with the announcement of more funding for feasibility work.

The Welsh Government announcement of an extra £250,000 for the project alongside new funding for other regional transport bids has been welcomed by the area’s MS who has campaigned for a new rail link for years, to potentially ease commuter traffic congestion on routes into Cardiff from the Llantrisant, Pontyclun and Beddau areas, which have seen extensive house building in recent years.

The new funding follows £650,000 already invested by the Welsh Government in the process of examining the business case for what would be a new Metro link from this part of Taff Ely into the capital.
