Stagecoach South Wales, has announced changes to its fares, which will take effect from Sunday 23 February 2025.
  • Adult single fares will increase on average by 25p
  • Adult DayRider fares will increase on average by 56p
  • All Zones fares are frozen at 2024 prices until 2026
  • Simplified ticket range making PAYG the quickest and easiest way to pay
  • Removal of return tickets on select services
  • Removal of flexi5 and flexi10 ticket bundles
  • Removal of Cwmbran 10 trip ticket bundle
Stagecoach will remove some ticket types to simplify their range and make it easier for customers. Customers will see an average increase of 25p on a single fare and 56p on a DayRider ticket respectively.
Stagecoach say that they have tried to keep their fares as low as possible, and in simplifying the ticket range, reduce the price of some tickets or make no fare changes. For example, adult single fares from Cwmbran to Newport will be reduced by 50p to £3.50, and adult single fares from Pontypridd to Cardiff reduced by 80p to £3.50.
Stagecoach say that they remain committed to offering multi-journey tickets, ensuring excellent value for money. Customers also continue to benefit from hassle free travel by using the Pay As You Go payment system. By tapping on and off to pay for their travel, customers will automatically benefit from capped daily and weekly travel, ensuring they never pay more than they need.
The operator will be removing some return tickets from sale for adult fares on select services. Child and mytravelpass fares will continue to offer a return option.
Martin Gibbon, Managing Director of Stagecoach South Wales, said:
“Bus travel remains value for money and Stagecoach continues to offer some of the lowest ticket prices in the country. We also remain committed to keeping fares as low as we can for our customers.”

“As well as paying for the day to day running of the region’s vital bus network, ticket costs help us to continue investing in improvements for our customers and keep communities connected across South Wales.”

“Whilst we are doing everything we can to absorb these cost increases, changing our fares to reflect the current climate is also a necessity to keep our services running across the region.”
