Stagecoach in South Wales: changes to some bus services

Temporary changes to some bus services in South Wales are being introduced by Stagecoach from Sunday 17th January following government advice on non-essential travel to help combat the coronavirus.

Stagecoach have told GTFM that it’s 122 service between Tonypandy to Cardiff will be temporarily reduced due to less passenger demand during the lockdown period but it will be flexible as passenger demand becomes clearer.

Service A Caerphilly – Graig-Y-Rhacca
Service B Caerphilly – Senghenydd
Service C Caerphilly – Penyrheol
Service D Caerphilly – Penyrheol

Merthyr Tydfil
Service 23 Merthyr – Twyncarmel
Service 35 Merthyr – Pant

Torfaen
Service 1 Cwmbran – Thornhill
Service 2 Cwmbran – Croesyceiliog
Service 5 Cwmbran – Fairwater
Service 7 Cwmbran – Hollybush

Nigel Winter, Managing Director for Stagecoach in South Wales said: “Along with other bus operators and key sectors, we are working hard to support the national effort to tackle the current challenging situation.
“The safety of our customers and our employees is at the heart of everything we do. We know that our bus services play a vital role in keeping the country running and ensuring key sector personnel get to work.

“Following the latest government advice, we have reviewed our timetables and made some temporary changes which reflect the reduced level of travel. We have worked with local councils and the Welsh Government to determine any changes needed to service levels based on local circumstances.”
For those passengers needing to make essential journeys, bus services remain safe with enhanced cleaning taking place, reduced capacity for social distancing and passengers required to wear three layer face coverings unless exempt.
