Santa Appeal 2021
Written by Gavin on 21st October 2021
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has launched its ever-popular Santa Appeal for 2021, aimed at bringing festive cheer to the children of Rhondda Cynon Taf this Christmas.
The annual Santa Appeal is always a huge success, with thousands of new toys and gift card vouchers donated to ensure that no child misses out at Christmas time.
Last year, due to the global pandemic, we asked our kind-heated local residents and businesses to donate gift cards vouchers only – but this year, once again, you can donate either toys or gift cards to our Santa Appeal 2021.
Our Santa Appeal 2021 Donation Line opens to the public on Tuesday, November 2. The closing date for your donations is Tuesday, November 30.
Councillor Christina Leyshon, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “As normality slowly returns to all of our lives, I am delighted that we are able to donate toys as well as gift card vouchers to our Santa Appeal this year.
“Despite the restrictions last year, we still managed to give gift card vouchers to all our children, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of so many people at this special time.
“Our annual Santa Appeal is a way to bring people together, to spread festive cheer and to remember others. There is nothing quite seeing a child smile on Christmas morning – and it is your generosity that allows this to happen in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
“I am once again delighted to be associated with the Council’s Santa Appeal this year and encourage as many individuals, charity groups, organisations and businesses as possible to get involved and help us make it a huge success.
“This has now become a popular and successful Christmas tradition in our County Borough and over many years, thousands of gifts have been delivered to countless children less fortunate than others.
“Please help us keep up that tradition and pledge your donations. Help us to bring smiles to the faces of countless children across Rhondda Cynon Taf on Christmas morning.
Over the past few years, our local residents, businesses, charities and organisations have donated thousands of toys and gift cards to children who, otherwise, may not have had a gift to open on Christmas morning.
But thanks to the generosity of others, all of the children, identified by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council social workers, wake up on Christmas morning to at least one seasonal gift, each of which has been thoughtfully selected for their specific age, including the gift card vouchers for older children on Santa’s List!

Supporting the Council’s Santa Appeal 2021 is so simple – all you have to do is email customer.services@rctcbc.gov.uk or call 01443 425025 and tell Santa’s helpers how many children you would like to donate something special to this Christmas.
You will then be given the name and age of a child. The name given will be an alias, to protect the identity of the child, but it will represent a real child in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
You have until Tuesday, November 30, to make that call or send that email and pledge a gift. Please note, lines will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday.
