The Community Development team at Pontypridd Town Council were recently delighted to be contacted by Trallwn resident Mr Gareth Pugh. Mr Pugh has been busy over the past few lock down months creating Bird Boxes in the workshop situated in his garden. He decided that he would like to donate the boxes to the local Town Council in the hope they would be sited in areas where the Community could enjoy them.
Gareth Pugh commented “I have found it very therapeutic creating these boxes, I think we have all found it difficult during the lockdown period and this has been a great help”
Chief Executive and Town Clerk of Pontypridd Town Council Tony Graham said “ We are so pleased to have been offered this opportunity by Mr Pugh. We have an extensive plan of regeneration and conservation for the Town and this kind of voluntary action is exactly what we are hoping to encourage”
He added that there are several exciting projects in the planning stages at a number of sites in and around the Town. He added, “Our work ties in with the Well-being of Future Generations Act which aims to improve the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales, so we are delighted to see these bird boxes go up around the Common to help sustain the bird population”
