Porth road closures and highway resurfacing at Station St, Pontypridd Rd, and Hannah St
Written by Gavin on 15th May 2023
Works to upgrade highways in Porth will start on Monday 15 May, which will require highway closures of Station Street, a small section of Pontypridd Road, and the northern section of Hannah Street for 4 weeks.
During this time local businesses are OPEN as usual, with all town centre car parks OPEN and FREE.
These works will see the closure of Station Street and the Northern most section of Hannah St. This arrangement will also affect access to West Taff Street, however temporary arrangements will be in place to ensure access for residents is maintained.
A temporary pedestrian crossing will be in use for Station Street. Northbound access along Pontypridd Road will also be closed at the Square for the duration of the works with traffic being diverted onto the A4048.
These works are needed to improve the integrity and durability of the road surface to support increased use and wear of the highways for the introduction of the new Transport Interchange, part of wider plans to plans to regenerate Porth Town Centre
Every effort has been made by the Council and our contractor, Encon Construction, to limit the impact caused as much as possible. The operating times for the works will be between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00 Monday – Friday and between the hours of 08.00 and 13.00 on Saturday, however the road closures will remain in place for the duration of the works.
The Council understands the disruption these works will cause to both residents and businesses operating within the area, and Encon Construction will provide assistance with deliveries for residents and businesses that are affected by the closure.
The traffic management arrangements and diversion routes can be viewed on the Council website at www.rctcbc.gov.uk/traffic
