Poppy’s Afro Chop

Written by on 10th January 2022

Poppy, aged 11, from Aberdare is having her hair considerably cut to help raise money for the Little Princess Trust in order to help children with cancer.

She has always wanted to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust. She would often hear of people donating their hair and asked herself at a younger age of around 5 if she could donate hers.

When her family looked into it, she was unable to donate her hair because she has Afro hair.  Whilst this was disappointing for them, Poppy still carried on growing it, in the hope that one day things would change, and back last year they finally announced they have managed to make their first Afro wigs, which came as amazing news to the family.

When a child loses their hair to cancer or another condition, Little Princess Trust be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity.

She received a pack from the charity and realised it costs £550 to make just one wig.

Visit www.littleprincesses.org.uk to find out how you can help the charity and to give young people back what cancer takes away. The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers and receives no formal funding.

Poppy will be having the cut on Saturday 29th January.
