Pontypridd Town AFC Become Pontypridd United

Pontypridd Town AFC have announced they are to rebrand to ‘Pontypridd United’.

Below is a statement from the club:-

“With immediate effect Pontypridd Town AFC are pleased to confirm that it will play under the new name of PONTYPRIDD UNITED.

Authorisation has been pending from both the Board and FAW to confirm this is acceptable.

There are a number of reasons behind the proposed change, which include the realisation that the wider club does not only play in the town, but also in Treforest. Also, as a growing club we wish to be more inclusive within Pontypridd and the surrounding areas.

We are the only club in RCT for 25 years to be playing Men and Women’s Football at the highest level of Welsh Football, which is great news for our community.

There will be no change to the legal status of the club, and the Board will work with all teams to provide the necessary updated information to enable a comfortable transition to the new name of the Football Club.

Earlier this year the club announced they had been promoted to the JD Cymru Premier for the 2022-23 season.
