Pontypridd Men’s Shed was among the award winners at a presentation held in the House of Commons.
UK Men’s Shed Association (UKMSA) held the national award scheme which recognises groups and individuals that make a difference in their Men’s Shed and local communities.
The Treforest based project claimed the Shed Partnership of the Year prize in a presentation held in the Speaker’s State Rooms on November 19th which was International Men’s Day.
This Pontypridd Shed has demonstrated what can be achieved by working with others.
Their partners include Pontypridd Town Council, primary schools, a film company and South Wales University.
The Shed has produced animations, run events and even developed a WW2 Garden through co-working with their partners.
Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons spoke of the “incredible stories about the difference Men’s Shed have made to the mental health and wellbeing of men – and the prevention of suicide”.
Pontypridd Men’s Shed chairman Andy Phillips said;”Considering the Men’s Shed was formed just over two years ago it is a brilliant achievement to gain this award.
“It has been made possible thanks to the support of Pontypridd Town Council and all the partners involved.”
“This award reflects the transformative power of men coming together to support one another, building resilience and fostering connections within their communities”.
