A new monthly band night has been launched by Awen Cultural Trust at Pontypridd venue Y Muni.

Organised in association with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council’s SONIG Youth Music Industry and supported by Arts Council of Wales, Y Muni Presents will celebrate emerging local talent and showcase some of the most exciting original bands and artists coming out of Wales.

Kicking off on Friday 17 January 2025, the first event will feature Welsh musicians Caitlin Lavagna with her band, plus Ivor Woods and Local Rainbow.

Richard Hughes, Chief Executive of Awen Cultural Trust, said:

“Y Muni has a strong history of supporting Welsh artists, so we’re thrilled to give homegrown talent an opportunity to perform on our stage.

“Y Muni Presents will offer an exciting and supportive environment for emerging and established musicians to showcase their talent and gain valuable performance experience.”

Y Muni General Manager Elizabeth Driscoll said:

“Y Muni Presents is an opportunity for our customers to discover fresh new talent on their doorstep and enjoy an evening of great live music in our
beautiful venue.

”Each month will follow a different theme, showcasing a wide variety of musical genres and original bands and artists.”
