A man from Church Village has been jailed for historic child abuse.
Robert Horton, of Heol Celyn, sexually abused a young girl in the early 1980s.
He pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual touching and two counts of rape but was found guilty of all offences following a trial.
His victim was abused from the age of nine. She told officers how he told her he would kill her if she ever said anything.
She made contact with police in 2019 and Horton was arrested shortly after.
Earlier this month, the 59 year-old abuser was jailed for 22 years and subjected to a restraining order preventing him from ever contacting his victim. He must also sign as a registered sex offender indefinitely.
Detective Constable Rhodri Price, said:
“I would like to pay tribute to the victim for the courage and fortitude they have shown throughout this investigation.
“I am pleased with the sentence and that the victim was able to get justice after 40 difficult years.
“I would encourage anyone who has been the victim of a similar crime to report it to us, regardless of how much time has passed, as the crime will be fully investigated, and they will get our full support.”
