Lucky seven – Pennant Walters continues to stand by Cambrian RFC

Written by on 13th March 2024

For the seventh year running Pennant Walters has committed to supporting Cambrian RFC as it aims to reduce costs to families involved in the club.

The local energy company has been a long-term supporter, sponsoring the junior section of the club, Cambrian Coltz, and has this year provided a donation which ensures all registered players receive a brand-new kit.

Steve Picton, Secretary of Cambrian Coltz, is thrilled with the continued support and said:

“Our junior section is thriving, and more than 240 juniors have received a kit, which sports the Pennant Walters logo. We’re always mindful of passing additional costs onto our families but we know how proud our players are playing in matching kit.

“To have the continued support of Pennant Walters is fantastic and takes that financial pressure away. We’re delighted that we can provide kit, once again, to all our members and we hope to do Pennant Walters proud through the remainder of the season.”Cambrian Coltz regularly has over 200 youngsters training and representing the club in matches, whilst volunteer coaches run the sides.

The sponsorship provided by Pennant Walters is from a fund linked to two wind farms in the Gilfach Goch and Blackmill areas, Pant y Wal in the county of Bridgend, and Fforch Nest, which straddles the border of Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf. The two sites have a total of 21 turbines producing 53 megawatts of clean electricity – enough to power the equivalent of 25,000 homes. It builds on previous donations which have seen the company provide money to support various local community groups.

Pennant Walters managing director, Dale Hart, said:

“We hope this new kit will give each player the sense of belonging to a fantastic club.“We’re more than happy to continue supporting the junior section of the club and we’re delighted to see the impact of our support.

“Our wind energy project community funds exist to make a difference to the local communities in which we work – benefitting people directly. We’ll be following each of the Cambrian Coltz teams and are wishing them the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
