Rhondda Cynon Taf based radio station, GTFM, has been shortlisted in the 2023 Community Radio Awards.

The station has made the shortlist, which was whittled down from entries from stations from every corner of the UK.

The station has picked up nominations in the Station of the Year category for their work in providing a local radio service for the Rhondda Cynon Taf area.

Judges from the Community Radio Awards were impressed with the strong community content GTFM provides from its local news service to community messages, events guides, interviews with the likes of Citizen’s Advice, well being charities and our coverage of the Eisteddfod Proclamation Ceremony, which held in Aberdare earlier this year.

Terry Mann, GTFM’s Station Manager, said: “

“This is fabulous news and a just reward for all the hard work our volunteers put into GTFM programmes all day long, all year round.”

Martin Steers, Community Radio Awards Chair, said:

“Every year we are constantly surprised and delighted by the breadth and depth of the output of community radio, both on air and in their local communities.

“We wish GTFM good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony in Newcastle in November.”

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on November 4.
