Four-year-old girl dies after crash on M4 motorway

A four-year-old girl has died and a three-year-old boy remains in a critical condition following a crash on the M4 near Newport on Saturday.

Gwent Police is appealing for information and dashcam footage about the fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a van.
It happened on the M4 westbound, between junction 28 and 29, at about 1.45pm.
All four people inside the car were taken to hospital.
The force subsequently confirmed the girl killed was aged four and the boy in a critical condition is a three-year-old.
A woman remains in hospital in a stable condition and a man has been released.

A 41-year-old man who was driving a van on the M4 at the time of the crash has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He is due to appear before Newport Magistrates Court today, police said.
