Written by on 27th January 2025

The 2025 events calendar is here, and it’s packed with some of our favourite returning events! Whether you’re a fan of spring, summer, or winter festivities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

We kick things off with an Easter treat at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum, where the Easter Bunny will be hopping back for the Easter Egg-stravaganza on April 24th & 25th. Tickets will be available soon at www.rhonddaheritagepark.com, so make sure to follow @whatsonrct on Facebook, Instagram, and X for updates!

On Saturday, May 24th, Aberdare Festival will take over the town with live music, children’s entertainment, and all the fairground fun you can handle! If you’d like to have a stall at the festival, application forms are now available at www.aberdarefestival.co.uk.

May 8th, 2025, marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the day WWII ended in Europe. The UK will light beacons in celebration, and we’ll join in with a special ceremony in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park on May 10th. More details on both the beacon lighting and the celebration event will be shared closer to the date.

Summer gets rolling on June 28th with the classic Classic Car Show at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum, a must for vintage car enthusiasts!

Then, in August, Ynysangharad War Memorial Park will be filled with delicious food and entertainment for the return of the Big Welsh Bite. After taking a break last year, this fantastic food festival will be back in full force on August 2nd & 3rd. Stay tuned for updates and stall applications at www.bigwelshbite.co.uk.

Get ready for some spooky fun on October 29th & 30th as Rhondda Heritage Park Museum transforms for the Halloween Spooktacular. With pumpkins to pick and plenty of creepy activities, it’s sure to be a frightfully good time!

In November, we take a moment to remember the service and sacrifices of British and Commonwealth military and civilian personnel with a Festival of Remembrance on November 1st. The Pontypridd Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade will follow on November 9th.

The year wraps up with some magical Christmas events, including Santa’s Toy Mine at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum from November 22nd to Christmas Eve. Also, don’t miss the festive fun in our town centres throughout November and December. The grand finale comes with the world-famous Nos Galan Road Races, where fireworks light up the sky in celebration of the runners as they make their way through Mountain Ash town centre. Who will be the Mystery Runner this year? Come along and find out!

Mark your calendars now for these exciting events—2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year!

Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities said:

The events calendar is busier than ever in 2025. Over 250,000 residents and visitors came along and enjoyed events in 2024 which of course included the National Eisteddfod of Wales. It’s hoped that visitors will return this year to enjoy the fantastic events we have to offer here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.  The Big Welsh Bite, Aberdare Festival are always a big hit – as indeed are all our family friendly events! We hope to see even more residents coming along to enjoy what’s on offer all around Rhondda Cynon Taf. There’s a lot to explore in our parks and venues throughout the year. I’m looking forward to a great year of entertainment in 2025!
