Discover fantastic ways to enjoy the great Welsh outdoors this Easter

Written by on 6th April 2022

Natural Resources Wales hopes to inspire people to get out into nature with the launch of a new film that shows the variety of ways people can enjoy woodlands and National Nature Reserves.

From adrenalin-fuelled mountain bike rides set against dramatic forest backdrops to scenic walks along the coast or in the countryside, NRW has a range of places for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Mary Galliers, NRW’s recreation and access promotion advisor, said:

“We look after woodlands, National Nature Reserves and trails throughout Wales where you can get close to nature, get active, and boost your health and well-being.

“Our family-friendly facilities, such as pushchair-accessible trails, playgrounds and visitor centres, can help make days out with children easy and enjoyable over the Easter school holiday.”

NRW recorded over three million visits to its woodlands and reserves last year and expects this number to increase as more people look to enjoy days out in Wales.

The increasing number of visitors brings with it a greater need for people to be considerate of the environment and local communities.

Mary added:

“As spring blossoms and we look forward to welcoming more visitors, it is vital everyone enjoys the outdoors responsibly by following the Countryside Code.

“That means planning ahead before a visit so you know what to expect, being respectful of other people, and protecting the natural environment. We ask people to park responsibly in our car parks and leave no trace of litter or dog poo behind.

“Sometimes our trails or visitor facilities need to close for maintenance. We advise you check the web page for the place you are visiting before you travel and follow all on-site signs for your safety.”

Watch the new film on NRW’s website and find your place to enjoy nature.
