Clap for Carers is coming back

‘Clap for Carers’ is coming back from 8 o’clock tomorrow night.
This time the organisers say they want to celebrate more than just key workers – acknowledging everyone who has played their part through the pandemic.

It’s now to be called Clap for Heroes.

The founder of Clap for Carers has distanced herself from the campaign after being threatened on social media.

Annemarie Plas wants tonight’s applause to go ahead, but says she won’t promote the event anymore.

The newly-rebranded Clap for Heroes at 8 o’clock aims to celebrate everyone who’s played their part thoughout the pandemic.

Listeners have been telling GTFM they have mixed views on it saying that Nurses and NHS staff need a pay rise not a round of applause and that people have been applauding the NHS whilst breaking the rules.
