In a statement the Welsh Government’s Health Minister Eluned Morgan MS says she’s received the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation’s (JCVI) final advice about offering a Covid-19 vaccination to children aged five to 11and has decided Wales will do so.
At the moment only children considered to be at clinical risk, or in households with vulnerable people who are being offered the Covid injection.
The decision makes Wales the first UK nation to offer a jab to all children aged 5 to 11 and the Minister said she’s asking health boards to do the operational planning and work closely with them and Public Health Wales to ensure there is age-appropriate factual and trusted information about the potential benefits and risks of vaccination for this age range, with families encouraged o visit the Public Health Wales website for information about vaccination and to begin a conversation about whether they want to take up this offer.
