CAFÉ ROYALE TO CLOSE SATURDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER AFTER 46 YEARS IN PONTYPRIDD’S HIGH STREET

Cafe Royale Pontypridd have announced that they will close the much beloved café at 4 High Street, Pontypridd this coming Saturday after 46 years in business. The business has been run by Marco and Giovanni Orsi since 1978.

Since opening the café on High Street, they grew the business and opened a café in the bus station which was open for fifteen years before it was recently sold. The Orsi name will be known to many in Pontypridd, Marco and Giovanni’s parents Italo and Maria Orsi were the proprietors of the famous John & Maria’s Bar and Restaurant at 2-3 Broadway. The Orsi’s legacy continues in the town with Marco’s son Enrico Orsi now owner of Zucco – Pontypridd on Mill Street, one of the best spots in town for coffee and nutritious foods.

Marco and Giovanni would like to thank all the staff, both past and present who have made Café Royale one of the local’s favourite places to eat, have a cuppa and a chat. They would also like to thank all of their loyal customers, lots of which have been visiting the café since the late seventies for supporting the café during the town’s best and worst times. The last day of trading will be this Saturday 21st of September.

Café Royale has been sold to a national company, who will undertake significant investment to open a new franchised food restaurant at 4 High Street later this year.
