Cae Fardre Residents Lead the Way to Reduce Anti-Social Behaviour by 63%

Written by on 18th November 2024

In a powerful display of community strength, the residents of Cae Fardre in South Wales have taken ownership of their neighbourhood, driving down anti-social behaviour (ASB) by 63%. In partnership with Trivallis, South Wales Police, and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCT CBC), residents have shown how communities can bring about real change when they are given the tools and support to reclaim their spaces.

A key part of the transformation came through Trivallis’ redesign of the estate, which included removing abandoned garages once misused by gangs. This project, alongside new CCTV managed by RCT CBC, has helped to create a safer, more welcoming space for all.

But beyond design changes, the heart of this initiative lies in empowering residents. Cae Fardre’s new Crimestoppers setup and community hub offer a secure, anonymous way for residents to report concerns and come together to tackle the root causes of ASB, including issues like youth engagement and unemployment. With a focus on empowering locals, Trivallis has helped residents build a stronger, safer community by addressing wider societal issues.

“We’re already seeing the benefits of this partnership,” said Lianne Bulford, Neighbourhood Services Manager at Trivallis. “Together, we’re showing how much can be achieved when residents take ownership of their space, and we look forward to continuing this journey with them.”

Local Police Inspector Leigh Parfitt commented, “This initiative is all about giving people the tools they need to make a difference. Working with Trivallis and RCT CBC, we’re committed to making Cae Fardre a safer, happier place for all.”
