Traffic flow along a busy junction in Pontypridd is set be improved thanks to the Council’s multi-million-pound #RCTinvest scheme.
Junction improvement works are set to begin w/c 6th March along the busy B4595 Broadway to widen the traffic controlled junction and ease queuing and congestion.
The Council’s £26.5m Highways, Transportation, Infrastructure and Strategic Projects (HTISP) programme has already made a significant difference to highways across the County Borough, with well over 100 streets/roads tackled and future proofed alongside major schemes and towns and village centres.
This latest scheme will add to the extensive catalogue and see £65,000 investment to widen the busy junction and provide an additional right turn lane on to the A4058 heading towards the A470 (Sainsbury’s). The works are expected to last around 5 weeks and will also see new pedestrian detectors incorporated into the traffic signal controls.
Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, who also has responsibility for Highways, Cllr Andrew Morgan, says:
“The Council remains committed to improving traffic flows and reducing congestion and delays for the thousands of residents, businesses and motorists that use our highways infrastructure on a daily basis.
“This latest scheme shows that we are looking to tackle all areas, from large scale resurfacing works to road-safety works, this extensive programme of works is making a difference in every local community across the County Borough.
“As a Council we recognise the importance of future proofing and maintaining our highways and see our infrastructure as one of our biggest assets, making it a vital area for investment.”
In order to carry out the works, traffic management will be in place, however in order to minimise disruption, this will only be deployed outside of peak-times.
