Britney Spears will make her return to the music scene with a collaboration with Sir Elton John, it has been announced.
While details of the project are limited, a spokesperson told the PA news agency the new track will be titled Hold Me Closer.
It had been speculated the pair would join forces on a new version of Sir Elton’s 1971 hit Tiny Dancer.
Sir Elton, 75, shared an image on his official Instagram of a rose and rocket emoji with the words “hold me closer” on Monday.
More information will be shared in the coming week, a spokesperson said.
Rumours of the high-profile collaboration were reported by US media outlets last month.
It comes after Spears’ controversial conservatorship, which controlled the pop star’s personal and financial affairs, was brought to an end after 13 years at a landmark court hearing in November 2021.
In June, the 40-year-old married partner Sam Asghari, 28, at their home in Los Angeles in a small ceremony attended by celebrity guests including Madonna and Selena Gomez.
Spears is fighting a legal battle with her father Jamie Spears over his alleged misconduct during the conservatorship.
Last month a US judge denied a motion by Mr Spears that the pop star should return to court to face further questioning over the legal arrangement.
Judge Brenda Penny previously ordered Mr Spears himself be deposed and face questions about alleged surveillance of the singer at her home.
