Between The Trees Festival 2022
Written by Gavin on 19th July 2022
Between The Trees is all about reconnecting people with Nature. It blends World class contemporary and indie folk music from all around the UK with talks, creativity and spoken word. So, although there will be over 30 music acts on two stages over 3 days, it’s much more than just a music festival, it’s an “encounter with nature” and an opportunity to relax and feel refreshed by the wonderful, restorative qualities of this unique coastal woodland space.
From small beginnings, the festival is now in its 6th year and has been recognised by the Visit Wales as one of the best alternative events in Wales for “cool culture”.
“Dawn & Andrew tell GTFM’s Terry about ‘Between The Trees’ 26th-28th August”.
The festival site is magical! Being situated adjacent to Merthyr Mawr National Nature Reserve, South Wales which is also happens to be one of Wales’ Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Uniquely, festival-goers get the opportunity to pitch their tents under the forest canopy, listen to informative talks and experience a diverse range of workshops such as watercolour painting, pottery, bushcraft skills, willow weaving, metal work and wood-carving and you can even go for a morning swim in the sea!.
The “nature” talks and workshops are our USP and take place in “The Niche” which is sponsored by the British Ecological Society (BES). You are able to use
microscopes to view plant and animal life close-up, listen to short presentations and debate about issues such as biodiversity, eco-activism, sustainability and
conservation. We have prestigious contributors from several universities, RSPB, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), The Wildlife Trust, The Woodland Trust, Speckled Wood Wildlife, Initiative for Conservation Cymru (INCC) and many others.
We pride ourselves in supporting local producers and artisans. Our food providers serve up a variety of wholesome vegan, vegetarian and meat options and we have an extensive real ale and cider bar.
