Applying for School Breakfast Club places for the autumn term
Written by Gavin on 29th June 2021
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has confirmed arrangements for their ‘School Breakfast Club’ applications for the autumn term – with parents and carers invited to apply on a phased basis during the week commencing Monday, July 5.
The applications will cover the whole autumn term of the next academic year (2021/22), running from September 2 to December 17, 2021. Places continue to be reduced in order to ensure that learners can remain in their class bubble, maintain social distance and effective hygiene measures. Parents/carers should only apply if their child requires access to a free and healthy breakfast before the start of the school day. It is important to highlight that this is not emergency childcare provision.
The process has been further improved to ensure that applying for Breakfast Club is an easier process. Applications must be completed online with the process opening for 19 schools each day, ordered alphabetically as follows:
- Monday, July 5 (7am) – Abercynon Community Primary School to Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School.
- Tuesday, July 6 (7am) – Cwmclydach Primary School to Llanhari Primary School.
- Wednesday, July 7 (7am) – Llanilltud Faerdref Primary School to Penyrenglyn Community Primary School.
- Thursday, July 8 (7am) – Penywaun Primary School to Trerobart Primary School.
- Friday, July 9 (7am) – Tylorstown Primary School to Ysgol Nantgwyn.
Parents/carers will be notified if their application has been accepted by Friday, July 23, at the latest. Places will be allocated based on capacity and the time of each application. If an application for a child is successful, then a place will also be automatically allocated for all of their other siblings.
Further information about the application process is being shared with parents and carers via individual schools. Applications must be made via the Council’s website, here.
Applications will remain open until 5pm on the same day the following week. Therefore, applications for the first set of schools will be accepted until 5pm on Monday, July 12, with the final set of schools at 5pm on Friday, July 16.
Unsuccessful applicants will be placed on a reserve list, while non-attendance of successful applicants will result in their places being offered to someone else. Prioritisation cannot be given to specific groups (for example, those who have missed out previously, vulnerable groups, or children of key workers) as this provision is intended to provide a healthy breakfast to all learners.
