Following the announcement that struggling home discount retailer, Wilko, has gone into administration, transport provider Adventure Travel has revved up its recruitment campaign to create job opportunities for vulnerable Wilko staff.
Wilko announced it would be appointing administrators on 4 August, putting more than 12,000 jobs at risk across the country including HGV and delivery drivers. Today it officially went into administration after failing to find emergency investment.
Adventure Travel is one of the foremost transport operatives in South Wales, operating many bus routes across the region with its fleet of over 165 vehicles, including more than 45 school buses and a number of privately hired coaches. It is currently recruiting for drivers with a host of jobs available across South Wales, involving various flexible working patterns.
Adam Keen, Managing Director at Adventure Travel, said:
“It’s a real shame to see the collapse of such a large retailer in Wales, especially with so many jobs now at risk. With some branches already confirmed to be closing, including Merthyr Tydfil and Llanelli, and mounting job uncertainty, we’re inviting Wilko staff to talk to us about our vacancies. We welcome a diverse range of personnel from all career backgrounds, including factory workers and those in retail. No experience is necessary and we provide a dedicated training school offering free, unlimited in-house training, to ensure anyone and everyone can find a role with us which they can thrive in.“We would encourage anyone who is concerned about job security, or who is inclined for a career change, to get in touch as we have vacancies ready and waiting to be filled.”
Openings within the company primarily include PCV drivers – which offers a significant joining bonus of £1,250 for new employees – and trainee positions which allow successful candidates to earn a wage while they learn, with a guaranteed job and increase in salary once all training is complete. A number of family-friendly shift patterns are on offer, including heavy duties, light duties, part time, full time, permanent late shifts, fixed duties etc. all designed to help people plan their lives around their work commitments.
