Aberdare Theatre Group win community award

Members of Colstars Youth Theatre, based in Aberdare are the first winners of a new community award launched by local MP Beth Winter.
From singing for charity to taking leading parts within the community, Colstars Youth Theatre group has made a lasting contribution to life in Cynon Valley over many years. Over the past five years alone, they have raised over £7000 for local charities.
The Cynon Valley Young People’s Community Awards have been set up to celebrate young people in Cynon Valley who go above and beyond to showcase their outstanding talents, and make a difference in their community.
Speaking about the award, Derek Williams from Colstars said,
“Colstars Youth Theatre is more than a group of performers, it’s an asset to the local community and a hub of friendship and camaraderie”.
“Young people today get so much bad press, but the members of Colstars Youth Theatre give their time and talent freely to help others.”
Beth Winter MP said,
“After the fantastic panto on the weekend, I was honoured to present the Colstars Youth with a thoroughly deserved award celebrating their contribution to life in Cynon Valley.”
“The Cynon Valley Young People’s Community Awards are for young people who always put their local communities before themselves.
