A boost heading into winter as all COVID-19 vaccine appointments are booked
Written by Gavin on 9th November 2022
Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB has now offered an appointment to everyone who is eligible for the autumn booster to protect them against COVID-19.
The Health Board has sent out just under a quarter of a million appointment letters, meaning it is a month ahead of its target to have offered everyone the opportunity to have the vaccine by December.
We have now past the half-way point with 50% of people (120,000*) having already received their autumn booster, with the remaining appointments now booked in up until Christmas.
The vaccine will help support the immunity of all those who are at higher risk from COVID-19, improving their protection against severe illness, while also helping to support the NHS during winter.
You are eligible for an autumn booster if you are:
· A resident in a care home for older adults or a member of staff working in care homes for older adults
· A frontline health or social care worker
· Aged 50 or over
· In a clinical risk group (aged five to 49 years)
· Pregnant
· A household contact of people with immunosuppression (aged five to 49 years)
· A carer (aged 16 to 49 years)
Anyone, living in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg area, who thinks they are in one of the autumn booster eligibility groups and is yet to receive an appointment should now contact the Health Board. You can complete the ‘Think you’ve been missed?’ appointment form on the Health Board’s website here – COVID-19 Vaccine Information – Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (nhs.wales).
Please remember to state which eligibility group you are in. Or you can call the vaccination booking team on 01685 726 464.
You may not have received an appointment if the Health Board does not know you are in one of the groups, for example, if you are pregnant, or live with someone who is immunosuppressed or are a carer. If you fall into any of those three groups, then please fill in the relevant form on Cwm Taf Morgannwg’s website here – COVID-19 Vaccine Information – Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (nhs.wales). Again, you have the option of calling the vaccination booking team if it is easier for you.
Making sure ‘nobody is left behind’ is part of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB’s strategy, CTM2030, by creating health and reducing health inequalities in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg area.
