One To One Gym PT set to complete a 24 hour spin-a-thon to raise money for Mind mental health charity.

One to One Gym PT Andrew Riddiford is set to spend 24 hours spinning on a bike in the gym in aid of mental health charity Mind. Andrew, the owners of the gym, Dave and Kinga, and the staff, instructors and other PT’s at the gym, are encouraging not only members, but non-members to come on down to the gym from 11am on Saturday 4th September, and spend at least 30 minutes on a spin bike in to help Andrew with his challenge. The gym will be open for the full 24 hours for everyone to show their support. Not only that, but Andrew has said for every pound donated on the day, he will match pound for pound in burpees!!

Andrew Riddiford, from Hirwaun, and is currently a Personal Trainer at One To One Gym.

Andrew says, “I have been into sport and fitness since I was in nappies! I’ve represented Wales and Great Britain in multiple sports. A former powerlifting, Olympic lifting and strongman champion, I have decided to test my limits once again on a spin bike riding for 24 hours. I have also cycled the length of Wales for charity. Coaching and helping people be a better version of themselves isn’t a job to me, but a passion”

“I have chosen Mind for the charity, because I myself have had help from Mind, having suffered with mental health issues in the past, and I would like to spread the word of such charities, so others don’t have to suffer in silence. Mind helped me through some of the darkest moments of my life and I would like to give back to them”

“One To One Gym are putting on a well organised event for Mind, using their state of the art spin facilities, and I’ll be challenging myself physically for a great cause. Mental health is just as important and physical health, and people will have a chance to know they not alone, and there are charities out there willing to help, as they have helped me.”

Class Coordinator Amy says “Andrew came to me about setting himself this challenge for charity, and asked if I would get involved. We have held numerous charity events at the gym over the years, supporting local and national charities, so how could I say no! And what a challenge is it. As one of the spin instructors at the gym, I know that this is not going to be easy, and I will be supporting him by spending as many hours possible on the bike with him…he’s on his own with the burpees though!”
