As a child she performed with the Mid-Rhondda Operatic Society, making her stage debut in the main auditorium of the Park & Dare Theatre at a young age.
And she first captivated national television audiences as a 17-year-old in the BBC One star search show ‘Over the Rainbow‘, which firmly established her as a rising star of stage and screen. Her appearance in this Andrew Lloyd Webber’s talent search in 2010 eventually resulted in the teenager from Tonypandy stepping onto the stage of the London Palladium as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
Since then Sophie has starred on stage in productions of Lord of the Dance and You Won’t Succeed On Broadway and on the big screen in hit movies Pride and The World’s End.
She also performed as Dorothy at the 2012 Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House in London and presented and starred in The Really Welsh Christmas Show for BBC Wales TV the same year.
