Seven newborn kittens have been found dumped “heartlessly” in a carrier bag in Abercynon.
RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information, after the shocking discovery was made by a member of the public on Wednesday (16 August).
Two of the seven kittens were found dead, while another – initially seen to be gasping – later sadly passed away. A mother cat to the kittens was nowhere to be seen.
A passer-by who discovered the kittens in the carrier bag kept the tiny cats safe, before they were rescued by RSPCA Cymru and taken into the charity’s care.
The charity is urging any members of the public with information regarding how the kittens were dumped in this way to contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line.
RSPCA inspector Nic de Celis said:
“These tiny, newborn kittens, who seemed only days old, were found heartlessly dumped in a carrier bag, left in a bush to die.
“Sadly, two of the kittens were found dead, and another passed away soon afterwards. If a passer-by hadn’t found this carrier bag, all seven would likely have died.
“We’re eager to find out why these poor kittens were dumped in this manner. If anyone has information, we urge them to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018, with calls treated in confidence.”
