Support Ian Edwards!

Just under a month ago on New Year’s Eve I took part in the Nos Galan 5k Fun Run. The original plan was to complete the 5k course around the streets of Mountain Ash in under 30 minutes and to raise money for Pontypridd Street Pastors and GTFM. Well history will recall that instead of breaking the 30 minute barrier for the 5k, I broke myself. A very sore achilles tendon that I had not fully recovered from, returned on the night (OUCH moment 1) and then less than 2 weeks later muscles on the lower left side of my back became inflamed (my achilles “limp” aggravating an old back weakness) cue (BIG) OUCH moment 2. So, no sub-30 minute 5k then. Although in hindsight, the 35 min 48 sec time I actually did was not too shabby given the circumstances.

Still history has yet to record how much money I raised for both charities (yes, GTFM is a registered charity number 1111030). I guess if I had a twitter account then it would be;

#wasthepainworthit

Well history has to wait to record the amount raised simply because an “executive” decision has been taken to accept donations until the 22nd of February. Trust me when I say I completed the 5k course distance, just don’t ask me how, and for goodness sake don’t ask Mrs (I told you so) Edwards. I have suffered enough.

Am I going for the sympathy vote/donation ?

You bet I am, taking part in that 5k not fully fit, has resulted in a distinct lack of sympathy in the Edwards household. So if you could make the pain (which has almost gone now, btw) really worth it by donating, then that would be greatly appreciated. Pontypridd Street Pastors are simply volunteers, but they do an amazing job. As for GTFM, giving airtime to all sorts of local and national charities plus providing a platform for the local community, and run by passionate volunteers.

And so to make my pain worthwhile all you need to do is..

Text GTFM17 plus the amount you wish to donate (e.g GTFM17 £5) and then send it to 70070.

Pretty please ???
