Ever wondered how money is made?
Well wonder no more, as the Royal Mint Experience has opened its doors for the first time today (Wednesday 18th May) in its 1,000 year history.
Based in Llantrisant, the site is expected to attract up to 130,000 visitors each year, who’ll be able to watch workers as they mint coins and also view an interactive exhibition.
The Royal Mint was established in the Tower of London but it has been based in Llantrisant since 1968 when it was opened by the HM Queen.
… and now, after £9million pounds worth of work – including a £2.3million pound Welsh Government grant you can now see for yourself what goes on behind the scenes.
The experience is open
9.30am – 6.30pm May – August
9.30am – 6.00pm September – April
