Powercut in Pontypridd Town Centre
Written by Gavin on 14th January 2020
Shops and businesses have had to close, traffic lights are not working, and an inquest has been adjourned after a huge power cut in Pontypridd town centre.
Alarms are going off and traffic congestion is building as the lights are not working.
Western Power Distribution has said they are aware of a power cut in the town and surrounding area. A statement on social media said: “We aim to restore all supplies by 2pm.”
The ongoing inquest into the death of Conner Marshall has been adjourned after the lights and power went off in the coroners’ court. Power has now been restored in the court which means the inquest can now continue.
A lot of shops, cafes and businesses in the town centre have had to close because of the power cut, but Tesco is open for business as normal as well as Connect Cafe at St Catherine’s Church.
Update at 1:30pm:- Getting reports on the GTFM Facebook page that the power has now been restored in the Town Centre and was confirmed by 1:32pm.
