Porth Disruption

Written by on 9th March 2018

The Council has worked closely with local bus operators to identify temporary arrangements for the duration of Welsh Water’s significant works in Porth.

The works to install a new water main, from March 12, require the temporary closure of Pontypridd Road from its junction with Hannah Street to its junction with Station Street. The alternative route, via Hannah Street and Station Street, is outlined on a map of the closure provided by Welsh Water.

Access to the closed section of Pontypridd Road will be maintained for pedestrians and residents’ vehicles. The one-way system in this section of Pontypridd Road will be suspended to allow two-way traffic, to facilitate restricted access for residents and certain commercial premises. Access for emergency services will not be maintained.

A temporary entrance and exit to the Morrisons supermarket will be provided off the A4058 during the works.

These works are part of Welsh Water’s wider £23.3m programme to upgrade water pipes from Maerdy to Pontypridd. Further information on the Porth works will be provided by Welsh Water – and more details on the scheme can be found at www.dwrcymru.com/en/Maerdypontypridd.aspx.
