Dan Godfrey has stepped up to be the new Pontypridd RFC Team Manager
The vacant position of Team Manager at Pontypridd RFC has been quickly filled, with recently retired back rower Dan Godfrey stepping up to the plate.
Richard Langmead, who had fulfilled the role to great effect for the past nine years, stood down at the end of the season just finished. Simultaneously retiring as a player, Dan Godfrey will now step into the vital role in preparation for next season.
Whilst there will be an overlap of duties to ensure a smooth transition, in dealing with player contracts and budgets, Godfrey is champing at the bit to get started.
“I’m delighted to be taking on this new role” commented Godfrey.
“When Langers approached me to see what my intentions were after retiring as a player, I was keen to carry on serving Pontypridd in some capacity – even as a water boy! The role of Team Manager became vacant, which will give me an ideal opportunity to maintain my links with the club.”
Godfrey now has a busy close season in prospect, learning the ins and outs of his new job and making preparations for another league and cup campaign for Pontypridd RFC.
“I’m a pretty organised guy by nature, and hopefully I will quickly adapt to my new role. A big challenge for me will be to manage my former team mates, to draw a line in the sand from being a player to being a manager.
“I know the values of this club, which is close to my heart and means a lot to me and to my family. To serve Pontypridd RFC in my new role will be a huge challenge but one that I will certainly relish.”
