Mayor’s Civic Carol Service 2018

A packed congregation attended the Mayor’s annual Civic Carol Service, held at St Catherine’s Church, Pontypridd.

Hosted by the Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Councillor Steve Powderhill, the Service was conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Reverend Peter Lewis.

A collection on the night, in aid of the Mayor’s chosen charities raised over £250. During his year in Office, the Mayor is supporting Giving To PinkWelsh Hearts, Velindre Hospital and Diabetes UK, as well as giving his support to children living with diabetes within Rhondda Cynon Taf,

Soloists at the annual Civic Carol Service were Daniel Davies, Ella Thomas and Faith Williams. Daniel, of Pontypridd, captured the hearts of the nation earlier this year by being crowned television’s The Voice Kids champion, beating off thousands of contenders to claim the title. Ella was the 2017 winner of Voice of the Valleys and winner of Welsh Factor 2018.

Also performing was The Glam Youth Choir, a childrens’ choir, formed in 2014, which meets at the St David’s Uniting Church in Pontypridd every Saturday morning.
