The Centre will be open with limited facilities on Wednesday from 8.30am.
Fitness Rooms, Sports Hall, Squash Courts and Meeting Room will be available for access.
Please note there are currently no Changing Facilities available however there is access to 1st floor toilet facilities.
The Lift is currently out of use.
There may be some disruption to Classes.
Update – 10.20 (21st March)
The Centre will remain closed as contractors continue to establish power to areas of the building.
Major electrical works are being undertaken as a result of the fire.
The good news is that the Fitness Suite, Sports Hall, Squash Courts and all 1st floor areas remain unaffected.
As soon as power is up and running they hope to get these areas open for use.
Update – 10:00 (20th March)
The centre will remain closed.
Officials are currently trying to establish power and water to all parts of the building, which hopefully will be re-established later today.
Staff and contractors are working hard to ensure the centre opens as quickly as possible and thanks to all of our customers for their patience at this time.
There are still no working telephones at site.

Update – 19:00 (17th March)
Council confirm that Hawthorn Leisure Centre will remain closed over the weekend following the electrical fire yesterday.

RCT Council confirm on Twitter – Hawthorn Leisure Centre remains closed. Fire officers continue to assess damage/smoke damage from yesterday’s electrical fire in the health suite.
Staff working hard to get the centre open ASAP.
Weekend parties have been relocated. Customers have been thanked for their patience.
Update – 17:15 (16th March)
Centre to remain closed for the rest of the day.
Valleys Steps have tweeted to confirm their classes are cancelled due to the closure of the centre
“4 fire engines attended a fire involving a sauna room at a leisure centre in Pontypridd at 13.34….”
“Crews from Pontypridd (2) Caerphilly and Treharris attended and fought the fire for over 90minutes”
” On arrival 2 crews reported the building well alight and requested 2 further fire engines. 4BA 1jet 2hosereels used”

Emergency services are currently tackling a fire within Hawthorn Leisure Centre.
Eyewitnesses tell GTFM that smoke is visible especially in the reception area.
There are no injuries and that everyone has been safely evacuated.
Fairfield Lane is currently closed as a precaution, whilst multiple emergency service vehicles are parked up.
