A new Health Suite has opened at Hawthorn Leisure Centre following a fire which devastated the former facility earlier this year.
Following the fire in March, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council invested in a full refurbishment at the Health Suite, with brand-new facilities installed – and they are proving to be even more popular than ever before.
Open seven-days-a-week, the new facilities include a steam room, sauna cabin, rest area and shower and changing facilities. There has also been a full revamp and refurbishment of the female changing rooms, including the installation of new showers and changing cubicles.
The Health Suite also has a lounge area, complete with television, where customers can simply relax.
Other new additions include a DDA compliant disability access shower facility and also a brand-new Gym Studio to allow for additional individual fitness training and further class-based activities.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said:
“I am delighted that after the fire earlier this year, we are now able to reopen the new Health Suite at Hawthorn Leisure Centre after substantial investment.
“It is already proving very popular with the public and our Leisure for Life members.
“With over £2M invested recently to improve our leisure centre, the new health suite at Hawthorn Leisure centre further demonstrates our commitment to delivering modern leisure facilities for our residents to enjoy.”
