Charity Elvis Night in Aid of Mayor’s Charities

Elvis fans across Wales are invited to enjoy the music of the ‘King of Rock n’ Roll’ while raising money for charity at the same time.

An Elvis Presley Tribute Night, in aid of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor Charity Appeal, takes place on October 6- and tickets are now on sale.

Starring Ponty Presley, who won ‘Best Welsh Elvis’ at the Elvis Festival in Porthcawl this year, and will be performing the hits of the most famous singer on the planet – 40 years after his death.

GTFM Will also be at the event providing a disco for before and after Elvis performing.

Cllr Margaret Tegg, Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, said: “Elvis Presley was one of those entertainers that spans generations, from young people to great-grandparents, he appealed to all ages.

“His music lives on, and is still loved – even by people who were not even born at the time of his death 40 years ago.

“Ponty Presley is one of the finest Elvis performers on the circuit and always brings the house down with his electrifying performance.

“Please come along and support us. It promises to be a great night out, raising funds for four very worthwhile charities and organisations, which provide such valuable service in our communities.”

Born in Tupelo in 1935 to proud parents Vernon and Gladys Presley, global superstar Elvis Aaron Presley, went on to rule the music world, becoming one of the most successful entertainers in history.

Starring in 33 movies, he has sold over one billion records, winning multiple gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards. He was also presented with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the age of 36.

Elvis sadly passed away at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977. He was 42 years old.

But four decades after his untimely death, fans are still buying and enjoy his music, visit his home and flock to the annual Elvis Festival in their thousands.

Ponty Presley is delighted to be supporting the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, performing many of “The King’s” greatest hits from each stage of his career, from the early years, right through to the legendary Las Vegas stage shows.

All proceeds raised will go to the Mayor’s 2017 Charity Appeal, which this year is supporting Alzheimer’s Society Cymru/Wales; Guide Dogs Cymru; Y Bwthyn palliative care hospital, Pontypridd; and Friends of the Animals Wales, formerly Friends of the Animals RCT.
