Road Closure between Pontypridd and Porth
Written by Jamie on 9th March 2016
The A4058 that connects Pontypridd and the Rhondda Valley will be closed this weekend. (Sunday 13th March at 3am through to the early hours of Monday 14th March 6am)
The closure was originally due to take place on Sunday 28th February, but was cancelled prior to the works commencing.
It’s to allow the replacement of a bridge which leads to Barry Sidings Country Park, which is to be removed and replaced.
“Due to the location of the bridge a crane will be situated along the A4058 to lift the old and new bridges in to place – as such this road will need to be closed to traffic for their safety”
The diversionary route is a reasonably lengthy one:
Pontypridd bound from Porth: Via Tonypandy (A4058), Tonyrefail/Coed-ely (A4119), Church Village Bypass (A473), and onwards towards Pontypridd
Rhondda bound from Pontypridd: Church Village Bypass (A473), Coed-ely/Tonyrefail (A4119), Tonypandy (A4058)
(All diversionary routes will be clearly signposted)
“Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and the council is working with public transport operators to minimise disruption where possible.”
