For months now local fans of singing superstar Sir Tom Jones have been calling for their idol to return to his homeland to perform.
However, with the announcement of each new 2019 UK tour date – London, Colchester, Dundee, Taunton, even Bristol – their impatience has grown, with many declaring their disappointment in the Valleys legend’s snub of his home country.
But now Sir Tom has responded directly, by hinting that a big gig in Wales is currently being planned.
“Wales, I hear you loud and clear,” he announced last night on social media.
“Special things take time, but you never know what is on the horizon.”
The message came with a famous photo of Sir Tom as a young man standing on a South Wales hillside overlooking his home town, Pontypridd.
The picture, which was first used on the cover of the singer’s classic 1966 album ‘From The Heart’, as well as the printed backdrop on the tickets for his sold-out concert in Ynysangharad Park back in 2005.
The coincidence has prompted his fans to suspect a huge live show is in the offing at the very same venue – possibly in time to celebrate his 80th birthday next summer.
